Formula 1: “We must continue to work to understand our weaknesses”, specifies Verstappen after his victory in France

Dutch driver Max Verstappen (Red Bull) finished first in the French Grand Prix on Sunday, at Le Castellet, ahead of the two Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.

Max Verstappen (NED/Red Bull), winner:

“I knew Charles (Leclerc) was going to be fast and hard to follow, but I quickly saw that our balance was good. (…) Once Charles got out, I knew I had to manage the tires until the end, because stopping twice would have been too slow because of the length of the track stalls. I was able to gradually increase my lead, the car was good, we had a very good pace. Of course it’s a significant lead (63 points over Leclerc, editor’s note), but a lot of things can still happen. We still need a lot of good results and to improve our pace in qualifying. I think that in Budapest (next week, editor’s note) it will be harder, Ferrari will be very fast. We still have room for improvement, we must continue to work to understand our weaknesses and correct them”.
